I found the McEvoy character to be dull and boring. The romance interest just wasn't credible. I just could not see the Walling character having a tryst with a reporter who inserted himself into the FBI investigation. Read the third in the…

Really well written and tightly plotted, as we expect from Connelly. Disturbing at times, but mercifully not graphic. Definitely read this before the Harry Bosch A Darkness More Than Night.

The book was read for the GCPL Virtual Book Club. The members gave it 8 out of 10 stars. Definitely worth reading! Storyline was fast moving from the beginning, the ending was a definite surprise!

Of all this author's books that I have read this would have to be my favourite!

THE POET is part of a 3 book series (so far) featuring a crime reporter. I read the third in my the series before reading THE POET, which is the first of the three. I have yet to read the second one. I actually liked FAIR WARNING…

Agree with comment from ThomE51, this is a long book and gets a bit wordy. Took me a bit to get used to the flipping sections from the main character to the criminal. This is the first of a non-connected trilogy, The Poet, Scarecrow and…

I started reading the Bosch books after seeing the television series, which was excellent. I've been reading them in succession which works well for me. The Poet is the first non-Bosch book I've read, and it's almost as good as the Bosch…

Just a great mystery novel . 5 stars. Someone commented they knew where the plot was going 3/4 of the way through. I sure as heck didn't . It was suspenseful for me to the last page . Has this been made into movie ? Also…

One of the first Michael Connelly novels I read, and still one of my favorites. I tend to read the same books again and again, and this always hold my interest. From the locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, to the suspense it is well…

An excellent read from one of today's top thriller writers! A flawed, but likeable hero and nonstop action makes this one of Connelly's best!!

Five stars from me. I think this book is his best work so far. Lots of plot twists, misdirections, and mystery from beginning to end. Even though I love the Bosch series, and have read every book about Harry, the new character (Jack), is…

The Poet is good until about 3/4 the way through and then it's apparent how the plot will play out. Not as good as a Bosch novel, but I'll probably try the next one in the series.

Although not a fan of this particular genre [can't explain that without giving it away], only Connelly could handle it sooo well - - another blockbuster from the master! [Starts relatively slowly, but worth the build-up.]

Move over, Harry Bosch, there's a new guy in town. Connelly, who happens to be Bill Clinton's favourite mystery writer, introduces a crime-beat reporter researching a series of articles about cop suicides. As he delves into the phenomenon,…

A good book but I didn't like it as much as other works of his. The Haller/Bosch characters remain my favorites. I thought the story line wandered a bit from time to time.
