All the characters were well acted in this period 1924 movie.
I really enjoyed the music and dancing on the ship. Watch the Behind the Scenes footage of how they created the great sets that were filmed on a Soundstage.

"There are wrong people, you know." Exquisite period drama from the 1920s, made all the more remarkable by the fact that as per the production designer in the featurette, the whole body of elaborate furnishings & interiors aboard the Hearst yacht were custom creations for the set & not just a lot of spendy antique rentals. For as familiar as I might have been with the style & spirit of the times (flapper girls, moonshine, etc.), seeing them come to life so vividly was a real treat. I enjoyed the whole cast, too, but a special 'brava' to Joanna Lumley (from AbFab!?!), who narrates the story & absolutely smolders in every frame she's in. Fantastic film. CR

Excellent cast intriguing story that didn't make the cut

Unrated because abandonned 40 minutes in. I love period drama, but this was completely unconvincing at every level despite the best efforts of a VERY talented cast and what should have been an interesting story.

You've gotta wonder about that Hearst family.
