There is far more to this book than the clash over truth in the runup to the second Iraq war. Wilson's long career in the diplomatic service exemplifies principled practicality. His experiences repeatedly demonstrate the dangers of ideology, not just with the incident of the yellow cake that wasn't. His thoughtful account led me to a less absolutist stand against any military intervention at all, while showing how strength really can avoid war, when used wisely.
