This official coffee-table history of the FBI celebrates the agency's 100th anniversary in July 2008. The book traces the FBI's journey from fledgling startup to one of the most respected and recognized names in national security. It takes you on a walk through the seven key chapters in FBI history--the early formative period; the gangster-driven crime wave of the '20s and '30s; the anxious age of World War II and the Cold War; the turbulent '60s and its burgeoning civil rights movement; the systemic corruption of the Watergate years; the rise of global terror and crime; and the post 9/11 era. The book includes extensive photographs, including never-before-seen pictures from the FBI files.

Here's the crucial history of the FBI: Agent Ken Williams files an action report detailing how Muslim students are training at flight schools only to take off in a commercial airliner, turn off the transponders, and the security arrangements surrounding airports, and frequently yell Jihad! Jihad! while stating that they hate America. And the FBI supervisors and managers say it's nothing? ? ? ? ! ! ! ! Agents Rowley and Samit file numerous reports requesting warrants to search the contents an apartment of the 20th hijacker, Moussaioui, but are dutifully ignored by their managers and supervisors, who will all later be promoted under Robert Mueller III, grandnephew of Richard Bissell, the fired CIA director of plans, under President Kennedy. And then there's COINTEL . . .[and we find out that there were at least 10 airliners, probably more, slated for hijacking that day, but that information, plus much, much more, is forever lost within the FBI. Inquisition, anyone?]
