One of the best submarine warfare novels I've read. ( - Much more realistic than Patrick Robinson for instance.) A very tense tale of a Russian commander 'cracking up' and the results of the incident.

Would make an exciting action adventure movie.
American sub rammed by Russian sub which causes the Russian sub to sink to the bottom to be finally rescued by the damaged American Sub "Seawolf". Lots of fantastic descriptions of weather, equipment, people, relationships,.... also the behind the scenes politicking especially the paranoid Russians. The American politicians and their face-saving actions are overshadowed by the skilled submariners. Good read.
