This documentary in combo with Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List" would be an excellent educational historical for anyone interested in the world war two Holocaust.

If you saw Schindler's list then you need to see this movie.
Very emotional.
What surprises me is why it took so long for Monika to realize what her father was really like .... until she saw the movie in 1993... what happened before that?

This is a very profoundly emotional documentary. Brought me to tears. Beauty comes from within. Monika & Helena are both victims. Helena stated "children suffer because of their parents backgrounds and choices." True. 5 stars.

Schindler was mentioned, so it might be interesting if you wanted to see the actual camp. It was a difficult one to watch because the meeting between the concentration camp victim and the daughter of the man who was in charge of it, should not have been at the site. They should have arranged to meet in a more neutral place.

Good movie – A rare meeting between the daughter of the Commandant of a Nazi concentration camp and a survivor from the same camp. I admire her courage (both the individuals) to meet up with each other

The movie "Inheritance" is best when seen after the movie "Schindler's List". Schindler's List shows a little of the actual story of what Amon Goeth, commandant of the Nazi concentration camp at Płaszów, did to Helen and the other Jews. Both movies are difficult movie to watch, but the effort is well worth it. "Inheritance" is the extremely moving and emotional story of Monika Hertwig (daughter of Amon Goeth, the camp commandant of the Nazi concentration camp at Płaszów) and Helen Jonas (his "servant") meeting and trying to heal their pasts, at least as much as they can in the present, with hope for the future. Slavomir's comments below really describe well the core of the emotional struggles of Monika and Helen. Watching "Schindler's List" first gives you get a much better understanding of what Helen's history is and what she must come to terms with. “Inheritance” and “Schindler’s List” do not paint pretty pictures, but the facts and the emotional and physical scars must be shown. I am not Jewish and did not have any family in the horror of the Holocaust, so I can only really get a small understanding of the physical and emotional scars the survivors must carry with them every day. But even with that small understanding, it is very hard for me to come to terms with the horror of the Holocaust. I can't truly imagine what scars Helen and Monika have. Each of us must try to understand, as much as we can, the actual events that happened under the Nazi regime as well as other countries that are in the midst of such horror today. We must never forget so that we can continue to be vigilant in preventing this from even happening again.

Good movie, good questions,

A real life meeting between the daughter (b. 1945) of Amon Göth, SS Commandant and butcher of Plaszow, and a Jewish woman who, at 14, was forced by Göth to work in his villa. Imagine everything your parents have told you since birth has been a lie. Imagine living with the shame that your father was one of the worst Nazi murderers. Imagine meeting and helping the daughter of the slayer of your people. Imagine living with the memories of all those who died.

Profound viewing.
