I adore Jacky, and this whole series, but this one dragged a bit. It was too long for too little conflict of consequence. It felt like a really long transition--I was just waiting for her to get back together with Jamie, to get back to the ocean, but instead I got caught up in side-characters I didn't feel particularly attached to.

This is one of the best in the series. The predicaments were many, the outcomes unpredictable, the characters memorable, funny and touching. I have to give 10 stars to Katherine Kellgren as the reader/actress. She really brings the characters to life and you laugh and cry and get scared right along with Jacky. Just like watching a movie in your car where you create the visuals.

Another rousing Bloody Jack adventure! Once again, Jacky is committing her high jinx upon the water, this time the Mississippi River rather than the Atlantic Ocean or the Caribbean Sea. Once again, Jacky and her beloved Jamey are separated. Visiting old friends and making new ones is always fun. And it ends with the promise of more adventures in store for young Miss Jacky Faber.
