The book has a sort of magnetic pull. You think maybe you'll just flip through it, there being a different dress on nearly every full page, but then you find yourself reading about these dresses, the interesting women who wore them, who made them, what they were made out of, where they were worn, etc.

A fun eye-candy read! It has gorgeous color photos and a nice gossipy tone (dishy, not vicious) for commentary about red-carpet show-stoppers and fashion icons. If you need an easy read for multitasking or waiting rooms I highly recommend it!

The pictures - as one would expect in a book of this type - are wonderful. What was unexpected was the quality of the commentary - well-written, just gossipy enough to be interesting but not smarmy or ingratiating, and demonstrating a sound knowledge of dressmaking and how the garments were "built". There is a sound explanation for why the author has included each dress.

This is a beautiful and well researched book. The pictures are phenomenal, and the conversational tone brings the reader into the world of fashion.

Not quite what I expected, but still worthwhile. There were some fun, "Oh, I remember THAT" moments (Princess Di Revenge Dress, anyone?) and a few iconic archival pieces. Lots of red carpet wear. Part of the problem with this book (and the only one, really), is defining the parameters for the "100". 100 unforgettable dresses of the 20th century? Late 20th century? Ever? Major designers? Style icons? Innovations? (yes, the Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dress revolutionized a certain level of style), According to Anna Wintour? Hal Rubenstein's creds are reputable, but my mind really wanted specifics.
That being said, still fun to think about the first time you saw some of those dresses.

Loved all the pictures of the dresses and the history surrounding them! I had no idea what the reasons were behind some of the designs. I'm not a huge fashion person, but I love seeing pretty/interesting outfits.

Beautiful and varied selection of recent dresses. Not as many photos as I'd hoped, however.

Disappointing. The cover photo is very misleading. No detailed shots inside like this one. Also, all the dresses are from the mid-20th century onward. I was hoping for more history

Awesome book. It looks like it might be sorta fluff but it's packed with great fashion history and scandalous stories. I liked this so much I'm going to buy it.

A great coffee table book for fashionistas! Pictures of beautiful dresses are accompanied by informative descriptions and fun anecdotes.

The loveliest dresses of the 20th and 21st century on some of the most iconoclastic women. Even though this is high fashion and the women are rail thin, I challenge designers to come up with dresses that are this wonderful for real women's bodies.
