This is a film where someone thought interesting scenes makes a movie. This is closer to a bunch of silent stills than a movie. It is slow, disjointed and pretty much weird. There are some nice weather related scenes.

I didn't know anything about the movie when I borrowed it and I'm not a big Scarjo fan, so I was skeptical. I ended up watching it twice, not something I usually do. It's really creepy and has a dark horror feel about it, which is maybe why it ends up in the horror section.

It is subtle and does take paying attention to, which I enjoy doing. For me, one of the key parts of this story is what it says about men. Scarjo is the only woman in the movie, and why the alien chooses only men is a mystery, and adds to the general mysterious-ness of the movie.

A scene that I can't shake is one where two naked victims (nudity and physical looks play a big part in the story's theme) are in some kind of suspension, unable to move, talk and yet conscious. Feels very, very sad. And effective.

A surprising ending adds to the mysterious nature of the story. Lots of great shots of nature. It's all very well done. I really enjoyed this story and still think about that suspension scene often.

The movie clearly does not belong in the Horror genre which means everybody who borrows it expecting that would be frustrated and disappointed. Hence so many negative reviews and low ratings. Anybody who likes Tarkovsky ("Stalker, "Nostalgia" and others) movies and David Lynch movies will probably like this one. The problem with the artsy movies is that they are only interesting when they say something new, never-seen before - not the case here.

The imagery is very interesting, but I still rated it low because it is so epigon-ish.

No alien movies for me.

I really liked it. you get to see her in softcore nude scenes alot and in the end it has a good ending. the intro does a good job of depicting an all around creepy idea and the movie is good

I thought Invasion USA with Chuck Norris was just an okay movie, until I saw this one. I understand the arty story they were aiming to portray. I like Scarlett J, but this drivel make me appreciate old Chuck's movie. I would have been upset if I had paid to see this movie.

I have enjoyed many movies featuring Scarlett Johansson, but this isn't one of them. It's an allegory - I detest allegories! Film is shot very dark, much of the time I couldn't see what was happening on screen. Much of the action isn't explained - though by the 7th time I've watched a similar sequence I kind of got a general idea of what the meaning was, but then only on a superficial level.
If you want to watch a Scarlett Johansson film, don't bother watching this 3rd-rate (or 4th-rate!) film entry. Try instead A Love Song for Bobby Long, also featuring John Travolta, et al, has a great soundtrack, and set in New Orleans.

Almost stopped watching it but towards the end I found some interest. Really a different kind of meeting not the type I enjoy very often. This was another one of those movie that the movie critics saw it differently than those watching to be entertained.

This is not your usual alien comes to earth film. You have to pay attention while watching it.

Its brave for Scarjo to attempt this movie with little dialog; this is almost a silent movie. I don't understand why the comment about it being slow because a lot of time you have to pay attention to little details and without paying attention, you'll miss and won't get what this movie is about. Its extremely well done artsy/sci-fi/horror movie. Its one of her best movie; I'm really afraid of her coldness, robot-like demeanor. The funny thing is Scarjo doesn't have to try anything to kidnap guys; they just naively jump into her car. Only Scarjo can do that!

Frightening or Intense Scenes: A scene where a small child (2 years old max) is abandoned on a beach at dusk and is crying out for it's mother with incoming waves. This is filmed close-up and at a distance which is very unsettling - that some idiots sacrificed the baby's safety and comfort for a few shots in a movie. Again, another pointless maneuver.

Sep 05, 2014

Sexual Content: Full frontal nudity both female and male. Lots of it. At least 2-3 male erections are shown. The majority of the nudity is done at a distance. While none of it is offensive, you don't need to see an erect penis to understand why a man thought Scarlett was inviting him home or see a woman completely naked to show her clothes being taken.

Violence: There is a stereotypical rape scene. More of a chase and then an attack which doesn't get very far, but it may be upsetting to watch for some viewers.

An alien comes to Earth in the form of a beautiful woman and uses its disguise to lure in and prey upon men in a Scottish town. While not a new theme in scific flicks, this take is unique, dark (literally and figuratively) and will leave the viewers wondering what they just watched.
