My 4 yo son liked the book, but some of the subject matter I omitted during reading due to the graphic text/descriptions. We also just stuck to the letters, rather than delve into the historical captions. We'll get to those when he is older. Also, he is very interested some of the other alphabet books by Sleeping Bear Press that are depicted on the back cover.
