Geoffrey Rush was excellent. The movie had a twisted ending which was not explained well. It had been interesting up until the ending.

Great movie that goes beyond the usual Hollywood junk. I've watched it twice to completely get all the subtle things I missed the first time. One of those films that grows on you as it progresses...give it time! For those of you who remarked on the age difference of the lovers, don't you realize that's ageism, which is worse than racism?? If the woman is OK with 25-30 years difference as many in Europe are...what's it to you? You are the creepy ones!!

This is a very tense mystery based on an interesting premise. However, watching Geoffrey Rush seduce a woman 32 years younger than him is slightly cringe-inducing.

This was a small gem of a movie. Well acted, great characterization, and a slow but layered plot development. Time well wasted.

"The Best Offer" may or may not be a good movie. The copy I received from the main branch was in poor condition & could not be played. Please notify the library staff of damaged discs. Don't put damaged discs back on the shelves. That is very inconsiderate.

This is the kind of movie that wants to give away the ending but you just fight it the whole time. Then youre like: "duh"!

Good movie. Moves slowly but stay with the movie. You will be questioning it long after it's finished.

This is a "slow burn" film; you must stick with it to the bitter end. TH and I've watched this several times and each viewing leaves me with questions. A nice change of pace from our usual mindless (Marvel) films.

A small, odd film-but it's really good- the final act kept me thinking for quite a while after the end of the film. There are deeper undercurrents to this movie which might engage the more perceptive viewers out there.

From IMDb:
Billy Whistler: Emotions are like work of art. They can be forged they seem just like the original but they are forgery.
Virgil Oldman: Forgery.
Billy Whistler: Everything can be fake Virgil: joy, pain, hate, illness, recovery... even love.

Virgil Oldman: What's it like living with a woman?
Lambert: Like taking part in an auction sale. You never know if yours will be the best offer.

Virgil Oldman: [Inspecting a painting] It's a fake.
First daughter: How is that possible? It's beautiful!
Virgil Oldman: I didn't say it was ugly, I said it wasn't authentic.
