Fleming has ventured into pop before, and here she does a lovely job w/a collection of sophisticated soft jazz and intimate cabaret-style performances for staying warm and toasty no matter where you are. There are holiday standards like "Have A Merry Little Christmas" and "Silver Bells' along with less-expected fare like Sandy Denny's old folk classic "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" and Paul Simon's "Love and Hard Times."

Wynton Marsalis and other jazz artists provide the breaks and other tracks feature duets with singers like Rufus Wainwright and Gregory Porter. Highly recommended for holiday chilling.

I read the audio version of this book. The narration was excellent. I enjoyed the story very much. There were several story lines. Fiona is a 59-year-old judge, married without kids, and she hears many kinds of cases, but it seems primarily family court cases. One case that was particularly haunting for her was a case in which she had to decide about whether or not to separate conjoined twins if it would cause one to die. Her husband is in the middle of a midlife crisis. He loves her, but tells her that he wants to have an affair with a young co-worker so he can feel that thrill of new passion one more time in his life. She's appalled and hurt, naturally. While this is happening at home, she takes on a case of a 17-yr-old young man who has leukemia and is refusing transfusion due to religious beliefs. Fiona's decision is whether or not to overrule the young man's and his parents' wishes and allow the hospital to go ahead with the transfusion to save his life. I was impressed with the way she dealt with the case and the decision. Overall, I found her to be an interesting and sympathetic character. Being the same age as Fiona and being in a long time marriage, I could relate to many of the things she was feeling and also some of what her husband was feeling. Interesting story.
