"Nancy Harmon long ago fled the heartbreak of her first marriage, the macabre deaths of her two little children, and the shocking charges against her. She changed her name, dyed her hair, and left California for the wind-swept peace of Cape Cod. Now remarried, she has two more beloved children and the terrible pain has begun to heal--until the morning when she looks in the backyard for her little boy and girl and finds only one red mitten. She knows that the nightmare is beginning again..."--P. [4] of cover.

I read this book years and years ago. I loved it! I started on a Saturday morning and kept reading into the middle of the night to finish it.

This was also my first time reading any books by Mary Higgins Clark. I don't know how I missed out on her writing before. I'm hooked! The book wasn't very long, but full of suspense from the beginning! I really liked this book and definitely will be seeking out more of Clark's books.
