Has a few cute moments and but overall kind of slow. I also agree with the comment below about the artificially colourful costumes and sets being distracting.

So funny and unexpected. Light and fluffy with an edge.

I generally enjoy rom-coms, but this was barely worth the watch. The combination seemed promising: Karen Gillan ("Doctor Who") + Scotland + writing... (Plus Freya Mavor, whom I enjoyed in "The White Queen"—but she was barely in it.) There was no chemistry between the leads and the writing was stilted so it was more of a slog to get through than anything. The costumes and sets were a little too loud and quirky as well, in that it was hardly a believable world—though it could have gelled with a stronger film.

It might be worth it if you enjoy Karen Gillan and rom-coms but even then, it's pretty slow-going. The scenery of Scotland was great, though!

I don't expect originality from a rom-com,.. but this one was well acted, clever, charming, and more engaging than expected.

Cute to look at, but that's about it. So poorly-scripted that it's almost unbearable. Skip it.

Jane Lockhart: [reading out loud] " Why is it that the saddest endings always seem the truest? In the stories I told myself, I was always the heroine; always reaching for my happy ending. It didn't turn out that way; I won't get to spend the rest of my life with him, but I was loved and that's enough."
