The way this movie is directed is so tender, with a focus on tiny details, like life as we really live it, that it feels almost unbelievable when events go from bad to worse. This is such a compassionate and humanistic film. Highly recommended.

Well worth watching...

'Nobody knows' is the story of four children who have been abandoned by their mother in Tokyo. The eldest child has to act as the man of the house and as the money starts to run out, he tries to bring a semblance of normality to the bizarre and surreal life which he and his siblings must get accustomed to. The film though is not as starkly grim (perhaps thankfully so) as compared to what really happened in what became known in Japan as 'The Affair of the Four Abandoned Children of Nishi-Sugamo'. Based on a true story, the film won 13 awards in various film festivals around the world.

Sad story that drags on a bit too long and has a meaningless ending. The lack of a conclusion made the movie feel like a waste.

This is a very sad story based on actual events. Truly hard to believe. Tragic.

An excellent, though depressing film about 4 children left behind to care for themselves by a mother who felt the pursuit of her own happiness and love is more important then caring for her children. All the child actors, oldest at 13 or 14, acted well in the film.

The fact this was 'based on a true event' makes it all the more disturbing. See it, but be prepared it will not be an uplifting experience.

The name of the film - Nobody Knows - was poorly conceived and puzzling.

Sad, sad, sad.

Sad, moving drama about a 12-year old boy who takes care of his three younger siblings after their mother leaves them. Based on a true incident.

Very Good movie about children that have to fend for themselves when their Mother leaves them to "find work". The children become reclusive and eventually tragedy befalls them. All the more tragic, is that I found out this is a true story.

Based on a true story, a mother left her oldest, a 12 year old boy, to look after one younger brother and two sisters in a rental apartment. They were all of different fathers as told. As the film progressed, it was clear that the mother had planned to abandon the kids with irregular monetary support via mail. A very disturbing "family" movie that viewers expected life's inevitable tragedy or accident would strike those children at any moment.
