Story: "love story"
man on the run finds refuge in a house
Kills brother and takes blind girl hostage

Male role well developed, his gentle kind nature shown by releasing the chained dog, petting the dog, trying to care for (release) the girl from her chain (fear).. kind to the man who brings his food daily...

Deeper themes: fear, trust, self awareness, survival, superficial assumptions, wanting to be free but caught in a trap (crime... world)...

Well acted by the males.
Female lead acting is wanting...
Her charachter and personality drastically changes as she becomes aware of sight.. exteremely unbelievable.. her charachter and way of relating to surroundings, circumstances and people so drastically and immediately changes as she gains her sight.

She plays the blind role full of fear, lacking self confidence, unaware of choices, and bordering on insane (facial ticks, eye rolling) -- all of which vanish as she gains sight. Years of facial ticks, body language , habits of a lifetime, fear based personality.... just " vanish " - poorly acted.

Tries to be a thriller, but really si a love story.. very slow, not much dialogue, action and body language based. Bordering on black and white... almost dull, but emotional enough to keep viewers interest..

Tries to be "hellen kellerish" at times, alfred hitchock like... thriller... delving slightly into human reactions and behavior.. not enough to feel "full" ...

This is a 2013 Italian drama written and directed by Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza.
Since the script seems poorly developed, the film fails to impress the viewer.
No director could make a good movie out of a poor script.

Excellent performances by the actor playing the titular role and the non-actress playing Rita. The Mafiosi are somewhat cartoonish with elaborate dyed, comb-overs and wearing the ubiquitous 80s track suits but the film is still compelling. Yes, the story is very unlikely but the Palestinian actor playing Salvo is compelling. It was clear to me early on that he was too silent to be an Italian actor.

The kind of murky and drawn-out melodrama so beloved of pretentious critics and film festivals. Avoid this one at all costs.

The first half of the film can be dragging wit the slow-pace and the often dark interior setting. However, towards the end, the film builds up and then "blooms" like a flower that makes up for its slow budding process. I was wondering at first how those various film events showered it with praises while watching it initially that I almost wanted to give up and eject it but patience pays for that virtue later. Well crafted!
