I'm glad I finally saw this. There were some truly hilarious moments. Given how funny Pryor and Wilder were together, I thought those moments were too few and far between. Cutting out 15 to 20 minutes would have made it stronger. Stir Crazy is rated R.

Enjoyed movie.
These two guys are great and work very well as a team in all the movie's they have made.

The first and best buddy film from the unlikely team of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. Directed by Sidney Poitier, who was perhaps looking for the audience that made his "Uptown Saturday Night" and "Let's Do It Again" solid hits in the mid-seventies.
"Stir Crazy" drags a bit in places, especially in the latter half of the film, and the usually dependable Georg Stanford Brown ("Bullitt," "The Rookies") misfires totally in his swishy, lispingly stereotypical turn as a gay inmate who takes a shine to Pryor.
But Wilder and Pryor have a delightful chemistry, and the early prison scenes--especially the ones involving humongous inmate Grossberger--are side-splittingly funny. Definitely worth a look.
