VERY artsy film that relies on scenery, score, and blank facial expressions to get the mood across. Hard to stay with it, and then a disappointing conclusion.

⅔ (or more) into it I gave up. Just boring. I LOVE Martin Sheen...and, his movies are always well chosen. This one not so much.

Reminiscent of Tarkovsky in themes and visuals (cinematographer is great, check him out.) about faith; this film is special because of its low budget, yet with English and Spanish versions (cast and crew fluent in both: no dubbing, all scenes played in English, then Spanish, which is the better DVD version), and a labour of love by three brothers (director, actor and jack of all trades). Martin Sheen's Spanish is pretty good and rather convincing as an Anglo priest (remember his other son Emilio Estevez?). Also check out The Way, in which Sheen played a doctor who honoured his dead son (Estevez)' wish to walk the pilgrim trail of Santiago de Compostela.
