Because J.K Rowling is homophobic I shall give this book a bad rating, and also percy jackson is much more interesting because there is more character development.

The Sorcerer’s Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series. It follows Harry Potter while he lives with his Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin. Harry is treated very badly by his family. Dudley, Harry’s cousin bullies him and Harry is forced to sleep in the cupboard under the stairs. However, around his eleventh birthday, Harry starts to get letters, but his Uncle refuses to let him read them. Eventually, the family runs to a remote island to get away from the letters that continue to be sent to the house. Even in this secluded area, a man named Hagrid finds them and tells Harry about how he is a wizard. Hagrid then brings Harry to Hogwarts, a school for wizards and witches. The rest of the book follows Harry as he is in this new school.

I really like this book! You can reread it over and over again, without getting bored. The book is full of imaginative creatures and characters, which make it a really fun read for anyone!

The Sorcerer's Stone is a book that pulls you in, and makes you love the Harry Potter series. This book is such a great intro to the series, soon enough you’ll be done with the series. It is like a classic story since Harry Potter is so well known. It follows the story of a young boy, Harry Potter, and how he discovers he is a wizard. He learns how he is very famous in the wizarding world, because of how his parents left him. I love rereading this book, and picking up details I didn’t before. You will not get bored of it!

I was finally coerced into reading this book. I found, as expected, that it was a very quick. It is a bit of a page turner. I also find it remarkable that it was just like the movie portrayed. I may read the second book if my daughters read a book of my choosing:)

Amazing book! I just keep on reading and reading and reading the whole series over and over again! I don't think there is another book series I would read over and over again! Totally recommend!

There is little substance and character development. We are introduced to Harry by seeing him neglected in a closet, and with a persistent person sending him a letter. We then find out he's a very important person/hero for his talents and blood, and yet they could not be bothered to send more than a letter. Harry never acts on anything-- he merely reacts to what happens around him. None of his actions was made by him, he only acts in response to things that happen-- once, there was a conversation where it was only his friends talking and he was.. doing nothing, simply observing the conversation and staring at the wall until his friend addressed him.
Harry Potter and the big villain has literally NO character development. The evil guy is evil just to make evil turmoil and stuff in the series. Harry is just a shell-- he has no character and can't even morally react to anything. His owl has more personality.
Along with the terrible character development, there is a terrible plot. What do you expect when all the main characters are just a chess piece to make a "plot"?
The writing is also horrible too. Why do I want to observe Harry staring at his textbook and being unable to study for a whole two and a half pages when this could have been summarized in "Harry tried to study, spending time hunched over at his desk, staring at the pages that his mind refused to register. He closed his textbook, turned out the lights, and sat on his bed." It took two and a half pages to convey literally the same thing that does not further the plot or promote character development. It does set a mood, but the above sentences do the exact same thing.
td;lr This series has hollow main characters, and half-baked plots due to this. The writing is bland and full of fluff that could be condensed ten times. There is no speed in this book, the popularity is just exposure. 100% do not recommend.

Harry Potter lives with his aunt, uncle, and cousin in the closet under the stairs at the Dursleys’ family home. He hasn’t had a birthday party in 11 years, and his family is generally terrible to him, but all of this is about to change when Harry receives a mysterious letter that arrives by owl messenger.

The letter holds the key to Harry’s happiness, a place he never even thought existed, a magical school called Hogwarts. There he finds friends, sports, and a great destiny. Read the first book to find out more! I love this book! It shows us a window into another exciting and new world. I would highly recommend this story!

a boy who learns on his eleventh birthday that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own. He is summoned from his life as an unwanted child to become a student at Hogwarts, an English boarding school for wizards. There, he meets several friends who become his closest allies and help him discover the truth about his parents' mysterious deaths.

Harry Potter never seemed to fit in anywhere. As an orphan who lived with his cousin, aunt, and uncle, he didn’t even really have a family. He had nothing, that is, until someone showed him a world of magic, literally. On a dark and stormy night, on the floor of a hut in the middle of the ocean, Harry Potter heard a strange creaking at the door. It was early in the morning on his eleventh birthday and his aunt and uncle had taken him off the map, made him untrackable by those trying to contact him. Still, Hagrid, the headmaster of Hogwarts’ trusted friend, arrived and took Harry away to where he belonged as a wizard, the wizarding world.

A month later, Harry was on the train to Hogwarts, then he was at Hogwarts, and before he knew it, Christmas had arrived. By then, Harry and his best friends, Hermione and Ron, were searching for the identity of the mysterious Nicolas Flamel, for this would answer their bigger question: what was under the trapdoor on the forbidden third floor? Eventually they found their answer. Believing their evil professor, Severus Snape, was after the precious object to help a truly dangerous entity, they set off for the adventure of a lifetime. What they found under the trapdoor was more than they had bargained for.

As a lifelong Harry Potter fan, or Potterhead, I greatly enjoyed reading the first book in J.k. Rowling’s famous series again. Knowing the entire story by heart, I loved finding little easter eggs, pieces of foreshadowing, or underlying metaphors. This book would rank high on my ten 25 favorite books, without hesitation. I recognize now how quickly the story moves along compared to the other books. The stories became more developed as the each book came out. Having read the other six books, I want to know more about Harry’s first year at Hogwarts. That is the only fault I can find in this wonderful novel.

I have and always will recommend this entire series to anyone. Harry and his friends are so relatable, so human, that the reader feels as though they are part of the fantastic trios. The incredible story is so transporting, one might actually believe they have entered the wizarding world, and long for it as much as Harry when they are away from it. Every part of the story are compelling in different ways. It is a great birthday present to start someone on this awesome series. It has something for everyone.

What did Harry Potter know about magic? He was stuck living with the decidedly un-magical Dursleys, who hated him. He slept in a closet and ate their leftovers. But an owl messenger changes all that, with an invitation to attend the Hogwarts School for Wizards and Witches, where it turns out Harry is already famous...

The Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series where you read about his first year at Hogwarts. Harry's parents died when he was young so he was sent to live with his aunt, uncle and cousin. Many strange things happened in Harry's life that he couldn't explain, until his 11th birthday when he found out he was a wizard. Against his aunt's and uncle's wishes he was sent to Hogwarts and had many daring adventures through out the year. Including something about Nicholas Flamel and the Sorcerer's Stone...

The novel opens with a description of the Dursley family, a middle-class family that lives in Little Whinging, Surrey. Vernon and Petunia Dursley are constantly worried that someone will find out about Petunia’s decidedly “unDursleyish” witch sister, Lily, and their worries are justified when Lily’s infant son, Harry, is left on their doorstep. Lily and her husband, James Potter, had been murdered by the dark wizard, Voldemort, but when Voldemort attempted to kill Harry, his power somehow broke. Harry becomes the only living person ever to survive the killing curse, and the only sign of his encounter with Voldemort is a unique lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead. Because Harry does not have any other living relatives, Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, decides to leave him with the Dursleys until he is old enough to attend Hogwarts.

He also finds out the real truth of his parent's death, and gets involved in a suspicious plot involving the attempted robbery of a very valuable object. What will become of him?
