From Library Staff

A collection of short stories offering a new spin on some of the classics of history, and introducing some new stories about LGBTQIA+ teens.

Peruse historical fiction from as far back as 1300 up to the 21st century, including a tale featuring a transgender Robin Hood. Being queer isn’t necessarily easy, but there can be adventure, love, and maybe even self-discovery.

Short and sweet. All of the stories have a happy ending which is what I think you want from a book like this.

This book is fantastic! It has excellent LGBTQIA+ representation throughout and includes a variety of genres. Definitely a well-curated collection from a phenomenal group of authors!

I couldn't put this book down! So many talented YA writers have contributed to this great collection of LGBTQ+ short stories. It was truly a wonderful read! If you're a fan of historical fiction, you will love this book since every story in this book is one - with a few elements of fantasy thrown in here and there like Roja written by Anna-Marie McLemore and The Inferno & the Butterfly by Shaun David Hutchinson. All in all a great read!

Had a good range of stories covering queer experiences, but I wish there'd been more historical eras and regions covered.

Very solid contributors list in this collection, with a solid collection of stories. However, while there's some range in experiences, the majority of them are American and European centered, and for a collection with "Throughout the Ages" in the subtitle, it contains a significant quantity of 20th century stories, which seems a bit at odds with its purpose.

Amazing bite sized stories that run the gamut from fluffy and funny to magical and mysterious. Also, a perfect choice if you love reading fanfiction!

@LPL_KimberlyL recommended this awesome short story collection to me, and it was a hit! The premise of writing fairy-tale-esque stories from a young queer and/or trans* perspective is really interesting, and I loved all of the different directions that the authors took.

An incredible collection of stories about ace people, lesbians, bi folks, trans folks and so much more! I loved the historical fiction as well as some elements with fantasy. There is definitely a story in here for everyones's taste.

This fantastic collection of short stories is very diverse with amazing writing. Characters are not just lesbian and gay, but bi, trans, genderqueer, and even gloriously unashamedly asexual. Like every short story collection, it had a few stories I didn't connect with as much, but overall, this is an outstanding addition to the canon of LGBTQ+ literature for young people. (The emphasis on #ownvoices authors really helps this particular anthology to shine out above the rest.)

Recommended strongly, especially for fans of historical fiction featuring gender and sexual minorities, like The Gentleman's Guide to Vice & Virtue or Silhouette of a Sparrow.
