Lily is pretty lucky. She made a friend on the first day at her new school--even after she barfed on the playground--and now she and Darby are the only two members of the RizzleRunk Club. Darby is fun. She tells funny stories, she likes to catch frogs, and there's lots of junk food at her house. Darby is good at lots of things, too. Especially lying. Which Lily isn't. She gets that ants-under-her-skin feeling when she even thinks about doing it. But sometimes telling the truth is just too hard, so when Lily accidently does something to the class rat that she's afraid to admit, she denies it. Soon the lie feels like something awful sitting in the bottom of her stomach. Will Lily find a way to let it out?

When you're the new kid in school (and town), one worry can dominate all the others: fitting in and finding friends. When you are super shy, self-conscious, and sensitive, that worry can easily become obsessive anxiety. That's Lily, and she's not helped by the fact that she vomits in the middle of recess on her first day of school. That's only the beginning; the bad first-impressions keep piling up. All Lily's attention is absorbed by the many things going wrong, and she nearly misses the things that are working right. Luckily, she is an entertaining narrator and who is able to find the humor in her situation (even when she can't see it for herself). So this ends up being a lighthearted, funny look at the social struggles of the young. A relatable, charming, and fun book.
