Isaiah Quintabe--IQ for short--has never been more successful, or felt more alone. A series of high-profile wins in his hometown of East Long Beach have made him so notorious that he can hardly go to the corner store without being recognized. Dodson, once his sidekick, is now his full-fledged partner, hell-bent on giving IQ's PI business some real legitimacy: a Facebook page, and IQ's promise to stop accepting Christmas sweaters and carpet cleanings in exchange for PI services.

Ide does great likable, quirky characters and dialog. The plot is complex and suspenseful.

This book (and the entire series) is worth listening to as an audiobook. The narrator, Sullivan Jones, is awesome and makes a great IQ!

...but then she rolled down the window and with the wind for cover, she started to sing...and then...he opened his mouth and sang and shared the same joy and relief and he was sad when the song ended but "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch" came on after that and "Superstition" after that and "Tracks of My Tears" after that and they sang and sang with her hair fluttering in the night air and her pale green eyes sparkling as they sped along the highway, the darkness wrapped around them like a cocoon, and he thought it was the best time he'd ever had in his life. pg. 224
