The story may have been worth watching, but with no closed-captioning or sub-titles it was extremely hard to understand. The main character (Colin Firth) spoke to himself in a quiet tone and nearly under the breath and with an English accent. It was nearly impossible to understand what he said. What a shame.

It's about a stupid hoax from the 1960s.

The disk I borrowed skipped horribly and had no closed captioning. I'm not sure what I missed, but as near as I can determine, this is a story of mental illness--perhaps longstanding depression or perhaps psychosis from prolonged isolation. The director makes every possible effort to prevent you figuring that out. The two up sides are 1) despite all the mumbling and without being able to determine if a scene is real or an hallucination, you get the clear picture he loved his children and 2) there is some pretty scenery.

Not only it's absurd life story, but what was the point of all of it?

Uninspiring and uninteresting story though based on real people and events. Expected a sailing adventure with an ambitious protagonist but instead got a slow slogging hoax and the people who were in it, a dumb-down version of the 2006 documentary "Deep Water."
