It is likely not a coincidence that a lot of movies are being made about the Holocaust and movies that were made about the Holocaust, like "Bent" are being watched a lot.

I am a firm believer in the mantra "never forget" because it did happen, and it still happens and I often think God is looking down at the world thinking "You [the human race] never learn".

The Bellingham Public library has a great selection of movies, including about the Holocaust, and this movie gives the viewer an eye into how it felt to be gay during the time of Hitler. Whether liberal or conservative, pro-gay or anti-gay, this will help the viewer to understand the fear of being singled out and targeted simply for not being what was thought to be ideal per Nazi norms.

Some of the scenes, as with many Holocaust movies, are very hard to watch, but they are likely realistic and probably tapered down from reality. Most people know that sub-groups like gypsies, the handicapped, the disabled, and yes gays were targeted by the Nazis just like Jews, so this is worth watching.

Only until mankind at large fully learns and adheres to "NEVER AGAIN" will it be time to stop watching movies like "Bent".

Unless you are into the pro-gay thing, this is a tough one to watch.

This is very difficult material to watch, but it is necessary for gay men to acknowledge that these atrocities actually happened to them during the Nazi occupation of Germany during World War ll. The extermination of homosexuals by Germans who followed Adolph Hitler was referred to as the "Final Solution." It came to be known as "The Holocaust." Over six million homosexuals and Jews were systematically anihilated by the Nazis as the world stood by and did nothing. Pure evil. It is interesting to note that hundreds upon hundreds of gay men died in the 1980's as the American government (Ronald Regan president) stood by and did nothing. This period before the medicinal cocktails were introduced is often referred to as "The AIDS Holocaust" in gay history. See this movie as a reminder of how much gay people are hated. These kinds of government-sanctioned slaughters of gays continue throughout the world today.
