Cute story idea. I enjoyed reading it to my son who smiled wryly seeing many of his actions and words mirrored in the book.

What I liked about this book is that they were fighting and then it was so good.

This read aloud book creatively shows a brother and sister (a knight and an evil princess) fighting, tattling on each other, and getting yelled at by the magic mirror (mom). The knight and the princess go on a quest to save a damsel in distress (the cat). Can the princess and the knight bring peace to their castle (home)? All stories don’t end with “happily” ever after, especially between brothers and sisters. I loved that the story matched with fairytales and illustrated with humorous pictures. The book was written by two siblings, so I know they write from experience!

Sometimes an argument between siblings can go too far, and when it does, they have to be separated. Both the Evil Princess and the Brave Knight are at odds, meaning that the fun ends. After some calm they are allowed to play again, only to cause more mischief. In this silly story we see the two make the same mistakes that most siblings do. The brother and sister pair have different personalities, as is expressed by their actions, but they do get along at times, both while playing and cleaning up their mess. It is a good lesson to say to children that they don't always have to get along, but it is important to do so when it counts. The amusing illustrations and brief text give just enough depth to the characters to make them relatable. All in all this is a more realistic book depicting siblings than most.
