2021 Books (1-100)

So, apparently you can only enter 100 items in a list. So since I have read over 100 books this year, I have to start a second list! This is my first 100 books of 2021. My favorites are Birthday, There is someone inside your house, and the Rokesby series. Of all of the Julia Quinn books I read the one that most affected. me was "The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever" though I gave many of hers 5 stars.

  • I read this in 1994, and it didn't age well :(
    Graphic Novel, 1994New York : HarperCollins, c1994.
  • 2nd book in the Bridgerton series - loved it!
    Book, 2000New York : Avon Books, 2000.
  • The Lincoln Conspiracy

the Secret Plot to Kill America's 16th President--and Why It Failed

    Meltzer, Brad,
So timely. Very interesting story including the Pinkerton agency and the first female private investigator in the country.
    Book, 2020New York : Flatiron Books, 2020.
  • Book 3 of the Bridgerton series. It starts off as a total remake of Cinderella and I loved it. The story gets a bit convoluted but ultimately yet another Julia Quinn success.
    Book, 2001New York : Avon Books, c2001.
  • Book 4 of the Bridgerton series. This involves Penelope and Colin finally falling in love, and the Unmasking of Lady Whistledown. So far my favorite of the series was book 2, followed by the beginning of book 3, but I enjoyed this one as well.…
Book, 2015New York, New York : Avon Books, 2015.
  • It was a bit slow going for me, but ultimately a very interesting mystery story about two sisters in Nigeria and the man that got between them (the doctor or the coma patient).
    Book, 2018New York : Doubleday, [2018]
  • The Spy Who Couldn't Spell

a Dyslexic Traitor, An Unbreakable Code, and the FBI's Hunt for America's Stolen Secrets

    Bhattacharjee, Yudhijit,
Well, the guy lived in Bowie, MD so that was exciting for me. Otherwise, it was pretty slow going. The idea for the story was interesting enough but the book itself was kind of boring, and the last 1/4 was a very detailed summary of the code he…
Book, 2016New York, NY : New American Library, 2016.
  • I enjoy all the Bridgerton novels, but this one might be the worst. The Phillip character is such a "project" I can't believe that Eloise would want to deal with all his issues. And he's so angry, etc. When they finally enlighten us on why he's so…
    Book, 2003New York, N.Y. : Avon Books, c2003.
  • Reading this book you can definitely see why it was made into a show. I really enjoyed this first Bridgerton book which introduces the Bridgerton Family and Lady Whistledown.
    Book, 2000New York, N.Y. : Avon Books, Inc., 2000.
  • This ended up being so funny. I especially liked Rowley's superhero character who was created by a double rainbow :)
    Book, 2019New York : Amulet Books, 2019.
  • I enjoyed this version of Twilight from Edward's point of view for about the first half. The second half was really boring (like trying to write down what is happening in a movie) and had way too much exposition of things Edward didn't even…
Book, 2020New York : Little, Brown and Company, 2020.
  • I don't think I've read this many books in a series since I read Harry Potter. But I need to rush because they're in high demand. This was sort of a prequel to the Bridgerton books, featuring Edmund's older sister. I enjoyed it except for the…
Book, 2016New York : Avon Books, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers, [2016]
  • This was my favorite Julia Quinn book. I really enjoyed this cute romance with Edward Rokesby, neighbor and unofficial betrothed to Billie Bridgerton (Edmund B.'s sister) and his best friend's sister, Cecelia. Not *really* a Bridgerton prequel, but…
Book, 2017New York, New York : Avon Books, 2017.
  • I loved this one too. It's about Andrew Rokesby who is working for the English Navy when he comes upon Poppy Bridgerton, cousin of Edmund. In this book, Benedict Bridgerton is just being born. Yes, you need to ignore the part that she was…
Book, 2018New York, NY : Avon Books, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers, [2018]
  • Last Rokesby book :( This one is Georgiana Bridgerton (Edmund's sister)'s story of being scandalized and ending up marrying Nicholas Rokesby. It's a cute story where she ends up getting to help Nicholas with his medical practice, as much as a woman…
Book, 2020New York, NY : Avon Books, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers, [2020]
  • This is the second volume of this series that I've read. I think Patterson takes true crimes and turns them into stories. They're definitely interesting choices. These two stories were ultimately sad though.
Book, 2018New York : Grand Central Publishing, 2018.
  • I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I did get kind of 'bored" in the middle so I read a James Patterson book in the middle but there are some really funny stories in here.
    Book, 2020New York : Crown, [2020]
  • The first book of the Smith-Smythe series. I liked this one a lot. It's Bridgerton-related in that the Bridgertons are friendly with the Smythe-Smiths and show up in the book.
