My favorite Fantasy, Time Travel, Supernatural and Sci-Fi discoveries

I've barely scratched the surface of this genre, but here are some of my personal favorites. An eclectic mix of psychics, magic and space/time travel for adults or young adults.

  • Read this in 24 hours - had to move it to the top of this list as I loved it so much and recommended it all my friends. Very complex, yet fast pasted take on reliving your same life over and over with all of your accumulated memories.

    One of my favorite mystery writers has a series with a deceased TX woman who comes down from Heaven to help solve mysteries in her former home town.

  • Amazing new series I stumbled upon, so glad I did. I've hooked my husband on this as well. Told from the POV of a part robot/part organic Security Unit that has hacked it's controls.

  • Awesome present day "thriller/novel" with a genetically engineered young woman with telekinesis. I enjoyed the 2nd one as well, but had to put the 3rd one down unfinished because of the offensive swear words.

  • Interesting historical setting during California Gold rush, where a young woman has a magical power to sense gold. I enjoyed the fantasy parts and learned from the history parts.

  • I can't believe I never discovered the Tortall books by Tamora Pierce until my 40's! I loved the Alanna series as well. This triology follows a young female "policewoman" of a fantasy medieval world.

  • The first in a series. The main character is a many thousand year old ship's AI stuck in a human's body. Interesting twist on AI that I won't give away in a synopsis.

  • First in a new series of a fantasy world where women are the gender in power. Warriors, magic, brigands, secrets, an engrossing read.

  • Time travel - slightly slow build up in first 1/3, but keep with it! Super suspenseful and twisty last half! Can't think of what to say without giving away the plot.

  • Not a well-known author, but really enjoyed this fantasy "heist" novel with just a hint of magic.

  • First in The Codex Alera series of 6 books. Was the result of a challenge to combine "Pokemon and a lost Roman legion". Don't worry, there aren't Pokemon animals, but "furies" that let the magic users fly, heal and move earth. Very well written…
